See the need. Be the solution.
Did you know that when you’re called to be a follower of Christ, you’re called into action. And more than just the actions of praying, reading your bible, going to church. It’s not just about being saved and having a relationship with him, it’s about pushing forward to the ultimate role of all…….Discipleship. Whether you care to admit it or not, when you accept Jesus into your heart, you gain a whole new role you didn’t even know that came with the call. Everyone who decides to follow Jesus, get a new name/title to add to their resume and that is Leader. Yes, you read that right. You are called to lead whether you want that title or not.
It could be as simple as leading by example. Showing others how Jesus would love others through the words you use and the actions you show towards them. But for most of us, it comes with more than that. It’s a call to lead the charge with whatever assignment he has given us.
For some reason I picture a football game when I start to think about this idea. When we accept Jesus into our hearts, he takes us from watching in the stands to getting ready on the side lines. He takes us into the locker room and begins to suit us up for the game. With every bible verse we read and conversation we are having with him, he adds different parts of the uniform until we are all dressed and ready…….Then he sends us out.
With adrenaline in our body, we wait in anticipation for the coach to call us up. I can just imagine what that would feel like. Excitement, nervousness and fear rip through your body as you wait, not knowing what lies ahead. Then we get that play call from the coach, and just like that we’re in the middle of the game, surrounded by the rest of our team. Hoping we heard the coach right. Hoping we don’t miss our route so we can gain more yards towards the goal line.
Can you imagine how loud it has to be on that field? The other team talking smack. The quarterback calling the play. The fans in the stands screaming and hollering. I’m sure the sound of our breath is deafening in our ears. It’s in those moments that God is whispering in your ear for your next step. Can you hear him? Are you listening for it? Do you know Him well enough to know it’s God’s voice piercing through the rest of the noise?
If we aren’t having these moments of adrenaline serving God, are we really in the game God has called us to? Are we really living our life out for Jesus? God isn’t calling us to be complacent with what we have and where we are. God is calling us to so much more.
When he said to Love others; He didn’t just mean to be nice to them and include them in plans. He means to serve them with love unconditionally. See the need. Be the solution.
There are so many in our communities that are struggling with the current climate of our nation. What do you think Jesus would do to love those people? Would he just sit in the stands and cheer them on from a distance hoping that the game would turn in their favor? Hoping they would recover a fumble so their life could start to turn around? No. He would put on the uniform so he could get in the game, find the solution and meet the need for them.
God is calling you to more….Are you listening?
