Have you ever thought about the details God puts in some of the smallest things? It amazes me how many intricate pieces their are in things that will ultimately have no purpose or value.
On our trip to the beach a few weeks ago, Billy and I did alot of beach walking. We were enjoying spending time with each other, watching the waves crash in, searching for Dolphins and finding seashells.
We found quite a few different types of seashells on our walks. Shells were everywhere; in the water and on the beach and all of them were all different shapes, colors, sizes; some even had creatures still in them (I was completely fascinated by them!). As I began to pick them up, collect them and really look at them, God started to speak to my soul about how unique each and every one of them are. He began to show me how much thought and detail went into those shells. Even if they were the same type of shell, they had colors and grooves on them to made them different and unique from the others. God chose this moment to ask me the question….if I can put so much detail into these small shells that just get discarded and washed out to sea, how much more thought and detail were put into you?
When I heard this question, It almost put me to tears. Because as much as we like the admire the beauty that God does in nature, we have a hard time finding beauty within ourselves. The things we get caught up on because it may not be like someone else, is the very thing God put a lot of thought into to give us. Every part of us has a purpose and a reason for the size, shape and difference to it.
One of my features that I’m extremely self conscious about is my nose. Since I was a little girl, I’ve hated it. Wished it was smaller. I hoped I would grow into it as I got taller but lets be real….neither of those things happened! As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to accept that my nose is the size it is and that I can’t change it. But every morning when I put on makeup I make remarks in my head about it and try to use makeup to make it appear smaller.

What’s your thing?

That one thing that bothers you? That thing you wish you could tell God he messed up on when he created you?

God finds value in things we devalue in ourselves and he never messes up. We just may not know the purpose it was specifically designed for. God sees the beauty in it, even when we can’t.
So why would He put so much detail into the small stuff? Why would He spend so much time making sure a seashell that has no significance has so much detail and beauty?
I believe its to show us how much he cares and values the small things in our own lives. The mundane day to day things we take for granted, he sees as the tiny dots that when zoomed out, make a beautiful crafted painting. He wants to show us just how little we have to have in life, to really have a lot and be blessed by it. That no matter how little we bring to him, it will always be enough and he can take it and multiply it far more than we can imagine.

God doesn’t make mistakes, he makes masterpieces!!!  So Lets wear our details proud!

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustardseed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” – Matthew 17:20 NLT
