Don’t let your outward label trump your inward ability.

I heard someone talking to their husband a little while ago about how they weren’t good enough to do the things God had placed on her heart because of how she thought she measured up to other people and the talents that God had gifted them with. She felt like they were better suited to perform the very thing God had called her to do because of the label she had put on that individual. It started making me think about how we value ourselves. What labels we put on ourselves outside of what people may tell us our label is. I’m guilty of it as I’m sure you are. We devalue ourselves based on someone else outward abilities.
God didn’t give us talents and gifts to not use them or to compete with each other. He gave us our unique gifts to use together to draw people closer to him.

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.” – Corinthians 12:7-11

Just because you think someone is more talented than you doesn’t mean God is going to use you any differently or less than anyone else. God chose you, molded you in HIS image and gave you your uniqueness for a purposes. He Labeled you HIS! You were meant to change lives with the beautiful talent and gifts he’s given you, so don’t let the worlds labels or your own insecurities change your outlook on that.

“So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.” – ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6-7‬

Don’t know what your talents or gifts are that God has given you?

Spend time with God in a quiet place.

Strip away the labels and insecurities you’ve given yourself and listen for God to reveal himself to you. No gift/talent from God is smaller than the other. So just because he doesn’t give you the talent or calling of missionary or Pastor doesn’t mean your job is any less valuable. It takes all of us to impact this world for Him!

Be proud of the label(s) he’s given you and don’t allow others to change that label!

I needed this today! I struggle with what others think of me and I need to focus on Gods opinion of me rather than others. Thanks for writing this!

Its something I struggle with as well. Almost daily. I have to constantly remind myself to remove the labels I give myself and walk in what he says I am!
