Waiting is a painful thing to do. At least for me, depending on the type of waiting it is; it can make me anxious, It can cause anxiety and can make me doubt. It’s in these moments, having a crystal ball or a time machine to see what will happen next would be nice. I wish God would give me my life book that he has written so I can skip ahead a few chapters just to see the outcome of this current season.
My husband and I are currently in that season. God is stirring in our hearts something that we aren’t able to grasp yet. He is equipping us with more tools for our belt but hasn’t given us clarity on the reason why we need those tools. It’s a very tiring time for us as we wait on God but we’ve decided that during this time, we will worship, we will pour our hearts out to him and give all that we have where we currently are until God’s plan is shown to us.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. – Proverbs 3:5-7
For most of us, our waiting season brings a lot of pain and frustration. We begin to think, how much more am I going to take before I give up. Maybe you’re in a waiting season of health or maybe its a waiting season for your career path……or something else. Whatever your waiting on, God is calling you to be obedient to him….to wait with him.
I heard a speaker one time refer to the waiting season like wandering in the wilderness…you never know what lies ahead in the journey or when you’ll find your way out of the wilderness, but the lessons and skills that you learn along the way is worth enduring the pain.
But even Jesus had a season of waiting. He went through hard times while he waited. Satan tempted him for 40 days. But he was obedient and God saw him through.
“The Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:12-13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I wonder sometimes if maybe God has put us in a waiting season to get our attention?

What if in this season God isn’t asking us to move or wanting us to change something physically, but just wanting us to spend more time with him? Could it be he just wants our hearts in this season? Regardless of his intention for the waiting, I believe this season is crucial in developing our character. He is growing us in our faith because we don’t grow in our comfort. Its in our struggles, that we tend to cling to God the most.
Habakuk 2:1 What’s God going to say to my questions? I’m braced for the worst.
I’ll climb to the lookout tower and scan the horizon.
I’ll wait to see what God says, how he’ll answer my complaint.
I just want to encourage you today to embrace the wait and have faith that God is working behind the scenes in your favor. If you’re ready to quit……don’t. You could be on the other side of the blessing God has for you and might miss it if you give up now.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. – Psalm 56:3
